Samsung Mobilers

Samsung is one of the few companies already offering mobile devices based on the innovative mobile operating system Android. This operating system enables its users to write code, configure and control respective devices based on their personal wants and needs.

wolfandmotoori was assigned to generate awareness and buzz for this new approach to handling mobile devices and, most importantly, to gain insights into what the tech-oriented target audience of mobile enthusiasts and early adopters truly want.

Positioning Samsung as a company that listens and reacts to users’ wants and needs, wolfandmotoori created Samsung Mobilers. This special prosumer programme was designed to get a first-hand account of how mobile technology as such can be bettered.
The programme involved real people in the co-creation and product development of brand new Samsung smartphones and respective applications.

After a comprehensive initial casting phase based on our very own scientific “Model of Influence” system, three teams were formed, who competed against each other in pre-defined project phases. These included research, ideation, testing and a final workshop with Samsung developers.

However, instead of designing the Samsung Mobilers as a close, “members only” circle, the whole programme was made public and tangible to a broad audience.
For this purpose, our Mobilers teams intensively used all kinds of social media to publish the individual steps of the project phases and to share their excitement about the project with friends and followers. Aggregated onto the special Mobilers website, their contributions and posts on media such as blogs, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Delicious, etc. generated a massive buzz – exceeding all expectations and reaching way beyond techie communities only.
In a nutshell, Samsung Mobilers served as the perfect tool to generate deep insights and brand new approaches to how customers experience mobile technology and how technology and applications can be modified to truly satisfy the user.
